The complaint is regarding customer hearing wind noises after replacement of the front windscreen. Types of noise heard can be classified as below:
- Wind Whistling Noise. A short sharp whistling sound is heard when travelling fast. It normally happened within a week after replacement. Under smoke testing, we found air leak into cabin from the sealant. The possible causes are sealant curing problem and driving without considering the precaution after replacement.
Solution: Since 2015, We introduce fast curing OEM sealant and allow sealant to set before handover vehicle to customer. There is no complaint on the issue anymore. - Wind Noise From Side. Wind noise can be heard from side of the vehicle. It normally happened within a week after replacement. Under smoke testing, no air leakage found. There are many causes we discover over years. Causes not related to windscreen replacement include door visor, deterioration of door seals or etc. Causes related to windscreen replacement is due deterioration of side moulding. As the side moulding is required to be removed before replacement, the tighness can be affected due to deterioration.
Solution: Replace new side moulding and clips or alternatively, seal the winds passage with sealant. - Wind Noise From top. Wind noise can be heard from roof of the vehicle. Complaints are received range from 1 weeks to 2 years after replacement of windscreen. Under smoke testing, no air leakage found. The noise can be worse for the model with sunroof. We have investigate and test on several vehicles, the causes are still unknown. We found the wind noice appear even before windscreen replacement. Suspect it is due to deterioration of certain parts of the vehicles, may not related to windscreen replacement.
Solution: As the cause still unknonwn, there is no solution temporary. We are still in the mist of investigating the posible causes and solution.

Over the years, we have try to improve the result and reduce the cost but the progress is slow. Currently, we found this technology only effective on small and light scratches. Large area of scratches may not cost effective and deep scratches will result in distortion of glass. We trust it is due to the nature of glass and limitation of current technology. New innovative method may be required to break through the limitation we face today.
As a result, we will put our research on halt until more convinsing technology is announced.
